Abstract: This report discusses the construction management new directions and the research results of the field in recent years. In addition, the managing safety in construction engineering is always a worldwide problem . It is not only related to whether the construction project can be proceeded smoothly forward, but also directly affect the safety of construction workers involved in the construction. Therefore, safety management is crucial. The report describes the latest approach to security management.

About the speaker: Dr Patrick X.W. Zou is Professor and Group Leader of Construction Engineering and Management in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering and Research Leader of Construction Engineering and Management in the Centre for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI) in Swinburne University of Technology.

Patrick is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Building (FAIB) and was a member and Regional Vice President of the UK Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Australasia, responsible for Research Development.Patrick is editorial board member of 7 international journals, member of technical committees of CIB W99 and CRIOCM annual conferences, and reviewer for numerous international journals.Patrick is internationally recognised award winning researcher and teacher and has won 11 major awards: 7 for excellence in research and 4 for excellence in teaching. To date, Patrick has published 200+ peer reviewed journal and conference papers, 4 books and 4 book chapters, 4 government and industry reports, with an annual rate of 13 arcticles/year.
