How Innovation Affects Construction Industry

報告內(nèi)容：The aim of this lecture is to overview the impacts of current innovation trends on construction industry. 2 major aspects will be discussed in the seminar: (1) how innovation within the construction sector is changing the industry, and (2) how innovation in other industrial sectors, especially in high-tech industry and retailing industry, is benefiting construction growth. The lecture will first identify key economic driving forces such as the introduction of new products/technologies, opening of new markets and carrying out of new organizations, and then examine the new opportunities for various stakeholders in construction business from these forces. Specific topics discussed will include the new market of high-tech factory development, sustainable renovation, breakthrough of information technology implementation and construction automation.
報告人簡介：Dr. Kuo-Liang Lin is a Taiwanese college educator, a devoted research as well as a well-rounded constructor. After receiving his Ph.D degree in the field of construction engineering and project management from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995, he returned to Taiwan to start his engineering career. From 1996/03 through 1999/07, he participated in several of Taiwan’s most prestigious projects, including Taiwan High Speed Rail strategic planning and Taipei 101 substructure construction. Currently, Dr. Lin is an associate professor and the department head of the department of Civil and Ecological Engineering at I-Shou University, Taiwan. As the leader of the department, Dr. Lin has orchestrated the departmental forces to receive two successful IEET accreditations, and revived the curriculum with solid integration of innovative and sustainable elements in the program. Dr. Lin’s research interests include project performance, building energy consumption, construction automation, sustainability engineering, and reclaimed materials. Dr. Lin is also maintaining close connections with local construction industry. He is now a senior consultant for Her Phone Construction Co. Ltd and Fantasy story
