A background story of building collapse research and current research status in US will be presented. Main topics of this talk focus on the research work related to collapse analysis of concrete frame structures, including macro-model based analysis, large scale structural testing, and methods for enhancing collapse resistance. Finally, a framework of the capacity-based robustness evaluation is proposed with an energy-balance method accounting for dynamic effects.
